Supporting St Margaret's (Somerset) Hospice.
Tickets are also available from the shop, but numbers are limited, so don’t leave it too late. If you purchase your ticket in the shop please keep your receipt to show at the box office on the day to redeem your food. The £10 ticket price covers admission at the gate and food (Meat and Vegan ticket options available). The £6 ticket will include admission only. There will also be a bar and tea and coffee available on the night.
Wassail gets it’s name from an old English term “waes hael” meaning “be well” which was shouted like a toast with the reply “drinc hael” meaning “drink and be healthy” at festivities in the darkest days of January as far back as Saxon times. There are several types of Wassailing tradition (most involving hot spiced alcohol) but the important one for all cider-makers is wassailing their apple trees.
Food, fires, hot irons and cider, chanting, dancing and shot guns are all involved, so come along for a noisy night and help us ensure that next year’s harvest is a good one.
ITINERARY:
- GATES OPEN AT 5pm (LAST ADMISSION FOR CARS WILL BE 6:15pm)
- CEREMONY SET TO BEGIN AT 6:45pm
- FOLK DANCING & DRINKING FROM 7:45pm
- FOOD AVAILABLE BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER THE CEREMONY
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No. Anyone is welcome to join us, but you must be at least 18 to have alcohol and you will need to have valid ID on you if you are lucky enough to look young.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking is a little limited, so if you can share your journey with anyone that would be very helpful.
What can I bring into the event?
You can only have food and drink which is provided at the event. Food tickets include either a meat or vegan/vegetarian option. You do need to come with wellies and warm, water-proof clothes. We may not be able to take cards at this event, so please bring cash with you.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, you must bring your printed ticket (or a receipt if your ticket was purchased from the farm shop). This will admit you at the gate and will be redeemed to claim your food, so you must bring it along with you.
